When planning any type of Christmas celebration involving children, it’s good to have some fun Christmas party games and activities ready for the kids. The suggestions in this article are great for school holiday parties, family get-togethers and church celebrations.
Christmas Party Games for Kids
Some standard kids games can easily be altered into Christmas games. Take the game Hot Potato. Turn it into a Christmas game by using a small stuffed Santa Claus. Musical Chairs is a kid’s classic. Play it during a holiday party using fun Christmas songs.
Bingo is always a fun game. Turn regular bingo into Christmas bingo. Print out plank bingo cards. Substitute B I N G O at the top of bingo cards with S A N T A. Instead of using numbers, use small Christmas stamps to fill in the boxes on the bingo cards. Give kids M&Ms to fill in the card that they get to eat afterwards.
Christmas Games for Children
For children who are old enough, try a game of Christmas song charades. Kids can either come up with songs on their own, or preset small, individual pieces of paper in a colorful holiday basket with names of popular Christmas songs for kids.
A snowball race is also lots of fun. No actual snow is needed. Instead, get white, round Styrofoam balls to use for this game. To keep kids from ramming into each other, only let four kids go at a time. Start out one side of the room and on the other side of the room designate a finish line.
Have children get on their knees with their arms behind their backs. When it’s time to start the game, kids must use their noses to push their snowballs from one side of the room to the other. After the first round is completed, have a semi finals round.
Once again, be sure that no more than four kids participate at a time for safety reasons. Have the semi finals winners face off for the final round. First kid across the finish line wins! Be sure to have a prize for the winner.
Fun Christmas Games
When it comes to Santa’s reindeer, Rudolph is the most popular. Have kids play a game of Pin the Nose on Rudolph. Either purchase a poster of Rudolph or have someone create one, minus Rudolph’s nose. Hand out circles of red construction paper. Place a piece of scotch tape on one side.
Blindfold each child when it’s their turn and give them one of the red construction paper circles. Whoever comes closest to placing the red nose on Rudolph’s face is the winner.
Kids Christmas party games are so much enjoyed by children. Kids can have a blast playing these games at school, home or church. Whenever possible, try to have some kind of a prize for the winner.
