Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) is the fourth busiest airport in France and a convenient gateway to the Provence vacation area. Flights arrive at Lyon from all major European airports.

Car hire is a great option with driving times from Lyon Airport to the Vaucluse region of northern Provence well under two hours. Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport has its own TGV station with direct high-speed trains available to amongst others Avignon and Marseilles.

Travel to Provence via Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE)

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) is the third largest airport in France and the largest in the région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. A huge number of destinations is served from Nice Airport including intercontinental destinations such as New York.

Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) is a convenient gateway to Provence for drivers with driving times to for example Aix-en-Provence below two hours. The airport is also a great place for car hire – the airport’s location on the French Riviera means open-top cabriolets and other interesting rental vehicles are often available.

Provence is a popular year-round destinations for travelers from France and abroad. Provence is particularly popular when lavender is in bloom (mid-June and July) and best avoided during the French school summer holidays – most of July and August.
