Activities for Children’s Christmas Parties

Anyone trying to plan a great children’s holiday party must first determine what activities will keep kids occupied and create a memorial event for everyone involved. Decorating a Holiday Stocking for a Kids’ Holiday Party Activity

Most children already have a Christmas stocking, but this activity creates a fun decoration and keepsake. Stockings for the project can be found for very affordable prices around the holidays. Check dollar stores for basic but attractive stockings. Younger children will need help with this project.

What is needed:

  • One stocking for each child
  • Tubes of glitter glue (Elmer’s makes a set of several colors)
  • White glue
  • Pencils
  • Other art supplies that sparkle, such as sequins, ribbon, and glue on gems

Start by writing each child’s name in pencil in the top white part of each stocking. Then, older children can use glitter glue to trace over the pencil, and younger kids can trace theirs with adult help. Then, let the them decorate the stockings with the glue, ribbons and sparkles. Children under age 3 should be closely monitored with any small items. Let the stocking dry during the rest of the party, Before the kids leave, place a special party favor in each stocking.

Decorating Christmas Cookies for a Children’s Christmas Party Activity

The best thing about this activity is that it doubles as a snack. Let each child make one cookie to take home and one to eat at the party. After the kids decorate the cookies, pour them some punch and let them enjoy this holiday treat. Even the youngest children can do this activity without much assistance.

What is needed:

  • Sugar cookie dough
  • Holiday cookie cutters
  • White icing
  • Food Coloring
  • Plastic sandwich bags
  • Twist ties

To help the party go more smoothly, bake cookies in advance. Use food coloring to make Christmas colored icings, such as green, red and gold. Fill sandwich bags with the icing, making several in each color. Use twist ties to close each bag, then snip one corner to make a pipping bag. Then let the kids get to work decorating the Christmas cookies.
